Fire Departments
Collinsburg
Rostraver Central
Rostraver Township Volunteer #1
Each year the three fire companies sponsor a fire prevention program at
the Rostraver Elementary School as part of National Fire Prevention Week.
During this time students are instructed on how to prevent fires, respond
to different types of incidents, encouraged to be leaders in their homes
to ensure residential safety, and are given instructions on how to react
if an emergency occurs.
The Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company (724-872-8568) located at 514 Hickory Drive, West Newton, PA 15089, was organized and chartered in 1967, to provide fire and rescue protection to the residents of Rostraver Township. Since that time, the members of the Collinsburg Volunteer Fire Company have been loyal to that cause and have grown from a small school house meeting place to a building that houses five fire apparatus to serve the residents of the township in almost any fire and rescue application. The members of Collinsburg Fire Company are dedicated to their community service and display this twice a month at the regular fire practice and drill nights. On these nights, in-house training occurs to prepare the members for the situations that may occur on the fire scene. Throughout the year, the members also participate in state certified fire and rescue courses to better prepare them for the task of serving the residents of the township. www.collinsburgfire.com
The Rostraver Central Volunteer Fire Company (724-379-5036)
located at 1100 Fells Church Road, P.O. Box 562, Belle Vernon, PA 15012,
was formed in the spring of 1950, by area residents of Rostraver Township
who purchased a used fire engine for the purpose of protecting and safeguarding
life and property in Rostraver Township. The engine was stored in a shed
at firefighter Pat Kuma’s farm until the fire company could build
a fire station. In 1958, a small one bay garage was built on land purchased
from the Foster family located on Fells
Church Road. In 1962 and 1970, Rostraver Central Volunteer Fire Company
purchased a new international pumper. In 1974 and 1980, they purchased Howe
pumpers and in 1990, took delivery of a new state of the art rescue pumper.
A new 1998 Stuphen 75 foot ladder truck was purchased and in 2003, a new
squad truck. The company has surpassed many milestones in its history by
being the first Rostraver Township company to purchase a Hurst Jaws of Life
rescue tool, a ladder truck, and a thermal imaging camera. The Rostraver
Central Volunteer Fire Company has 45 active and retired members. www.rostravercentral.com
The Rostraver Township Volunteer Fire Department #1 (724-379-7838) located at 952 Route 906 South, Webster, PA 15087, was chartered in August 1949, and was the first organized fire protection for Rostraver Township. Prior to our organization, fire protection for Rostraver Township was provided by neighboring communities. The fire department was proud to welcome the community to the grand opening of their new truck garage in the spring of 2004. This building houses the heavy pumper, rescue, brush truck and river rescue boat along with a fully equipped communication room. The new building also allows for future purchases of equipment to keep up with the townships vast growth. With your help, the Rostraver Township Volunteer Fire Department #1 will continue to provide the highest quality fire protection for Rostraver Township for many years to come.
To be a member of any of the townships three fire companies, one has to be a dedicated person to educating the residents and surrounding communities in the Rostraver Township area. Please stop in to any one of the three companies to visit and check out their station and equipment.
