ATTENTION SMALL BUSINESSES IN WESTMORELAND COUNTY:

E-waste recycling will soon be mandatory in Pennsylvania

Items that MUST BE RECYCLED:
Mandated Devices as defined by CDRA (All television, and anything directly connected to a computer system):
  • Computer Monitors-CRT and LED/LCD
  • Copiers (desktop and stand-alone)
  • CPUs/Towers
  • Laptops
  • Peripherals (mice, keyboards, speakers)
  • Printers
  • *TVs-all types, NO LIMIT ON SIZE OF TVs
 
Items not mandated but SHOULD BE RECYCLED:
Non-mandated Electronic Devices:
  • Answering Machines
  • Cameras
  • Camcorders
  • Cell Phones
  • Docking Stations
  • Electric Typewriters
  • Fax/Copy Machines/Duplicators
  • Gaming Consoles/Controllers
  • Medical Equipment
  • Pagers
  • Radios
  • Rechargeable Batteries
  • Remote Controls
  • Stereos/Tape/CD Players
  • Telephone Systems
  • Testing Equipment
  • Toner/Ink Cartridges
The PA Covered Devices Recycling Act of 2010 (CDRA) dictates that all electronic devices defined in the act be banned from landfill disposal and must be recycled.  Consumers and small businesses (those with fewer than 50 employees) must have access to electronic waste recycling programs at no cost to them.  A FREE e-waste recycling drop-off program is available to meet your needs.
 
Which Small Businesses can participate:  Any business with fewer than 50 employees.
 
Large retailers and businesses with more than 50 employees must contract with qualified e-waste vendors to meet their recycling needs.
